WCC CENTREBOARD DIVISION WINTER SERIES 2024
NOTICE OF RACE and SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 

​

DATES:  May 12, 26 June 9, 23, and July 7, 21.
VENUE:  Parua Bay


ORGANISING AUTHORITY:
Whangarei Cruising Club Inc. Assisted by Sail Northland Charitable Trust.


BRIEFING: 
will be 10.30hrs for a 11.00hrs first start. A minimum of 3 races will be held each day.


CLASSES; 
ï‚· Any centerboard yacht may enter.
ï‚· 3 yachts of any class will constitute a fleet.
ï‚· Combined fleets will have a handicap system.


COURSES: 
The course to be sailed will be notified at the briefing each day. 
                   
ENTRY:
Will be taken by the race committee before the briefing, accompanied by a gold coin
donation to cover costs. Entry is open to any member of a YNZ-affiliated club.


SCORING:
Will be by the low score system. The best 15 results will count for the overall results
and prizes. The races will be run under the 2021 - 2024 racing rules of sailing.

PENALTY:
A competitor can exonerate themselves by one penalty turn. One tack and one gybe in
the same direction.


PROTESTS:
Must be lodged verbally with the race committee on the start boat within 10 minutes of
the finish of the race. Protests will be heard by arbitration initially within 2 hours of the
finish of the last race of the day. Any hearing will be held within a week of the race.

STARTS:
Flag signals will be displayed on the start boat.

ï‚·  3-minute class flag
ï‚·  2 minutes P flag
ï‚·  1 minute removal of P flag
ï‚·  Start, removal of class flag.

The warning signal for the next race will be 1 minute after the previous start.
ï‚· Individual OCS will be 1 sound and class flag up for 30 seconds
ï‚· The general recall will be 2 sound signals and class flag up and the race will restart 1 minute after the start signal.
ï‚· Postponement will be by sound signal and the AP flag displayed

. A sound signal will accompany the lowering of the AP 1 minute before the 3-minute warning signal.

Competitors will be advised of any changes to the sailing instructions at the briefing each day
