RŪNĀ – Inspiring the Next Generation Through Sailing and Sustainability

Sail Northland is proud to be part of RŪNĀ, a powerful and engaging education programme supported by Yachting New Zealand, designed to connect tamariki with the past, present, and future through the lens of sailing, science, and sustainability.

In 2024, we were thrilled to welcome over 550 students from more than 20 schools across Northland to take part in RŪNĀ – a programme that blends learning on the water with learning from our rich cultural heritage and environment.

RŪNĀ is about more than sailing. It’s about helping Kiwi kids "steer" towards a sustainable future, grounded in knowledge of where we’ve come from, how we harness the forces around us, and how we protect our moana.

We look forward to a new Season of the RUNA programme starting in October.
