ABOUT RŪNĀ

RŪNĀ supports kiwi kids to learn from the past to ‘steer’ toward a sustainable future. RŪNĀ involves three modules:

Kōrinorino - Our Ancestors' Wake (Te Ao Tangata | Social Sciences and Aotearoa New Zealand Histories - focuses on understanding local settlement stories). LINK

Kōkōkaha - Powered by Wind (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths - focuses on designing sustainable energy solutions). LINK

Moanamana - NZL’s Blue Belt (Science and Education for Sustainability - focuses on restoring marine ecosystems). This module is being rolled out in 2024, LINK

Yachting New Zealand, who is behind the RUNA programme, has a “Have a Go” trailer available which includes 6 optimist sailing boats, a safety RIB and a qualified coach. The Sail Northland Charitable Trust co-ordinate this opportunity to the Kaipara and Whangarei schools and would like you to take part.

RUNA learning experiences are designed for students in years 5 through to 10

COST

The RUNA KōrinorinoProgramme at Parua Bay $500 + GST per day for up to 24 children.

The RUNA Kōrinorino Programme at One Tree Point cost $600 + GST per day up to 24 children.

The RUNA Kōrinorino Programme at Kai Iwi Lakes cost $700 + GST per day up to 24 children.

Please Note: We divide the class into three groups for the day - 18 is a perfect number, 24 okay. (We can manage a larger group if necessary- but we just like to give the best sailing experience we can. Less numbers equals more sailing!)

Tū Manawa funding through Sport Northland have indicated that they would look favorably on any application from schools who wish to participate in the programme.

If you are able to apply for Pub Charity or Oxford Sports Trust funding, then the kids could potentially go sailing for FREE!!
