At Sail Northland, we believe in the transformative power of sailing, physical skills, mental resilience, teamwork, it's all happening at SNCT. Through our partnership with Te Horo School, we’ve had the privilege of introducing students to the world of sailing through the Runa Sailing Programme. This initiative not only equips young people with essential sailing skills but also fosters a strong sense of teamwork, mutual support, and confidence on the water.
It’s all about working together as a crew to achieve a common goal and students from Te Horo School are learning to communicate effectively, make decisions together, and rely on each other to navigate the challenges they face on the water. Whether they're adjusting sails together or cheering each other on through a tricky manoeuvre, the experience of working as a team on the water is one Te Horo students will never forget.
For many of the students at Te Horo School, the Runa Sailing Programme is their first go at sailing and they are doing an awesome job of showing how quickly the Pipiwai Team learn. We hope we are inspiring a new generation of sailors who not only possess the skills needed to sail but also understand the value of working together and supporting one another.
We look forward to sharing more sailing days with Te Horo students in the coming weeks and watching their skills, teamwork, and confidence continue to grow, both on and off the water.
